My reputation with the Men of Bree is fairly low. I’m not sure why that is, but I figured I might as well try running around in Haudh Iarchith again. I had not been there in quite a while and the last time I bothered it was quite difficult. There’s just a ton of wights and spiders in the area.
This time around I was able to get through the area with wights that have Great Protection. While I didn’t come across any bosses, I still did pretty well in the reptuation department and saw a few monsters I had never seen before.
I also came across an odd anvil deep in the area. Wonder what the deal with that is? Wouldn’t it be interesting if forging Legendary Weapons required equally legendary crafting areas such as this?
Probably, but it’s also likely that it would mostly be a pain in the butt.
I’m sure as you’ve wandered around Eriador you’ve noticed that weapons have different damage types. This is never really explained in-game and so I thought very little of it. It seemed natural that some would be stronger than others, but how much stronger was not something I was able to piece together.
In any case, I’ll be going over the various damage types, the Great Protection buff and related issues in this post.
Early on in The Lord of the Rings Online you’re going to be spending a decent amount of time in the Barrow Downs. While running around you might have come across Haudh Iarchith, an extremely large dungeon area absolutely packed with high level wights and spiders. Obviously you probably turned right back around.
This screenshot (click it for the full-sized version) is of Haudh Iarchith’s entrance. Somewhat misleading considering all of the wights floating around outside of it are pretty much a cakewalk by comparison. You’ll be coming back here for some decent Men of Bree reputation items later on, such as Barrow Treasures and Cardolan Trinkets.
