To become filthy rich, or at least socially secure, in LOTRO is rather straight-forward, if pedestrian. There are lots of methods, but simple, guaranteed ones are this:
Be an Explorer and exploit every resource you come across, and after you master a given tier of crafting for that resource, sell the rest in the Auction House;
Complete all slayer deeds for each region your complete, and sell the hides, recipes and interesting detritus in the Auction House;
Master your non-resource craft, work daily on guild reputation, equip yourself and your friends best you can, and sell critted and guild items in the Auction House.
The central theme of my path to riches and social security is the Auction House. Master the Auction House, and you will never lack for lucre.
Until fairly recently I had no idea what a consignment quest was. I’ve asked a few people about these and they hadn’t heard of them either. They’re pretty useful at times and it’s definitely worth finding out a bit about them.
My first exposure to these quests was purely accidental. I talked to a vendor at the Combe Lumber-yard and noticed he was selling some usual items. These were called “Work Orders”.
I’m sure as you’ve wandered around Eriador you’ve noticed that weapons have different damage types. This is never really explained in-game and so I thought very little of it. It seemed natural that some would be stronger than others, but how much stronger was not something I was able to piece together.
In any case, I’ll be going over the various damage types, the Great Protection buff and related issues in this post.
Tip Time highlights things about LotRO that I wish I knew earlier than I did. This might cover UI adjustments, game settings, damage information and so forth.
Guides explain clearly how to specifically accomplish goals within the game such as defeating a boss, finishing a quest, earning a deed and so forth.
Lately this blog has concentrated heavily on news about Mines of Moria. As exciting as that is, I really feel more attention needs to be given to helping players and offering my thoughts on other things.
So I’ve started a new series called Tip Time. Each post will highlight things I’ve found helpful and things I wish I knew when I started. At worst this series will be weekly, at best several times a week.
Time for today’s tips! There’s 9 total listed below.
Helpful UI Adjustments
Moving UI Elements — All aspects of the UI can be repositioned. Press ctrl+\ and all elements will be given bars so you can drag them around. You can also rotate the quick bars by clicking on their little gold circle button.
