Turbine has updated with another batch of developer diaries detailing what’s in store for classes beyond level 50. Surprisingly, one is about the Rune-keeper. Check them out: Champion, Minstrel, and Rune-keeper. I’ve detailed a bit about each below.
I thought it would be interesting to catalog the changes in my character’s appearance as he increases in level. It seemed like it would be a fun way to display how a character can come off as more impressive as he or she gets access to cooler equipment.
I plan on updating this every 5 levels or so. Alongside the new images I’ll talk a bit about my experiences leveling Thergrim . . . annoying quests, fun quests, people we came across, etc.
Plus I gave it a lame name: Minstrel’s Melody. Can’t beat that!
To say I play The Lord of the Rings Online slowly is probably being generous. I’ve been playing the same character with no attention given to alts since June 2007. That would be my Man Champion (my second character after an Elf), who only recently hit level 48. Getting to 50 in a couple of weeks obviously isn’t my thing.
I’ve never hit the level cap in a MMORPG. Typically I get bored around halfway there. With LotRO the issue is more due to my amount of free time and what I actually choose to do in the game. I just take my time.
Minstrels have had access to several instruments for quite a while now. Unfortunately The Lord of the Rings Online never really took into account which one was equipped when using their music-based skills.
With the upcoming release of Book 14, minstrels can look forward to new animations and sounds for each of their skills based upon every equippable instrument in the game. Massively came across a video by sabacao that shows all of these off with various Minstrel skills.
NA/AU/NZ gamers can download the Mines of Moria Downloadable Updater to download all necessary MoM files ahead of time. The full patch is about 2.7 GBs and will be necessary for ALL LotRO players on the 18th.
MoM will be released on November 18th in North America and Europe. Pre-order options are detailed in this post.
A +25% bonus in XP for killed mobs is in place for all players until November 17th. Additionally, former players can login and play for free until November 10th.
