Albeit a few days late with this news, I have across another article arising from the European press screening and hands-on time for Siege of Mirkwood that was held in London recently. This time the article is in French, although some google translation helps! The write-up has some lovely videos and and screenshots, and the write-up is brilliant. Go take a look! The summary of key points is after the jump!
- Echas Sirion, on he shores of Mirkwood will present you with a number of quests that must be completed before you gain access to the entire forest.
- The map appears to be larger than expected, feeling bigger than North Downs. This helped by the areas feeling more open (it has the feeling of terror from Old Forest, but a sense of freedom for moving about).
- Malledhrim silver feathers and golden stars equate to new barter items. A large camp in Mirkwood will serve as a new hub akin to 21st Hall.
- The Dol Guldur instances appear intricate and vary a lot from what we have seen before.
- Radiance armour can be bartered using a special type of barter coin known as a medallion of Dol Guldur. A six-set piece will give you 30 radiance. A three-set piece (which can be worn alongside the current Halls of Crafting, HoM and WW 3-pieces) will give 25 radiance each.
- It will take 80 dread to make you cower (previously this was 50 dread).
- As you will need many medallions to barter for radiance armour, it is assumed all the new raids will allows ALL those participating to get medallions so no-one comes away empty handed. This is designed to be fairer and more speedily get a group raid-ready.
- Only 2 tier-8 legendary relics will be required to create a tier-9 relic.
- New pots for removing level75 wounds/fears e.t.c. have been introduced: “steeped” draughts
- When looking at armour, you can zoom in on that item
- The class skills at L62 are modified versions of old skills, which according to Jeffrey Steefel is to avoid imbalance.

It will take 80 dread to make you cower (previously this was 50 dread).
I have seen absolutely no evidence at all of any change in terms of cowering in beta. Are you quite sure you’re understanding this? I’ll take another look… but…
