Regardless of your class, every character will have the opportunity to complete class quests at Levels 15, 30 and 45 (available from your class trainer). The rewards of your first class trait, some decent armor or a weapon, as well as the excitement of progressing your character in a solo-mission designed specifically for your class, is more than enough to ensure the majority will complete the L15 and L30 quests… the same, however, cannot be said for the L45 class quests! This tip-time installment is here to provide you with the reasons why you should squeeze this set of class quests into your Middle Earth experience, and provide some assistance in getting your character some of the best legendary traits available…
The L45 class quest is started by speaking to your class trainer at level 45 (big surprise there huh?), where you will be sent in the direction of an expert in your field — these NPCs are typically located in low-level areas of the game such as Breeland and Ered Luin. Upon speaking to these experts, you will recieve two class questlines (normally one for a weapon, and the other for armor or jewellery). This is where the questline can become a turn-off: firstly, there is no longer a solo instance to complete, this time you have a series of quests in which you must collect enemy drops from across Middle Earth, and secondly, in the wake of legendary items (also attainable at level 45), much of the goodies for completing the quest may seem pretty… uh… rubbish!? BUT, what you are not told, is that if you complete BOTH class questlines, you will then be asked to speak to one of Middle Earth’s more renowned NPCs (think Boromir, Legolas e.t.c.) at which point you will receive an awesome legendary trait! (Yes, that’s right… no collecting book pages for this legendary trait!):
- BURGLAR: Stick and Move (evading starts critical response chain)
- CAPTAIN: In Defence Of Middle Earth (+50 vitality, agility, might, will, fate buff)
- CHAMPION: Controlled Burn (better power + attack)
- GUARDIAN: To The King (powerful attack with knockdown)
- HUNTER: Bow of the Righteous (power recovering with attacks)
- LOREMASTER: Eagle-Friend (summon Eagles with in-combat power restore)
- MINSTREL: Fellowships’ Heart (powerful group heal-over-time + fear remove)
- RUNE-KEEPER: That Which Does Not Kill Us (group heal-over-time with +40% defense)
- WARDEN: Way of the Warden (combined stance for power/morale/defence)
Each line of the class quests involve three stages of item collection including: finding and killing signature elites and standard mobs for non-tradeable items, collecting tradeable-items from enemies (or auction hall)… and the one that most will struggle with: collecting tradeables from uber-elites in Carn Dum and Urugath. Saying this, if you have a supportive kin or network of in-game friends, getting a group together to head to Uru or CD to down a mob like Helchgam (see picture above) shouldn’t be too hard, and a Level 60 or two in your group should make light work of any foes in these large instances. Going yourself will certainly save you some cash too (CD/Uru items on the Gilrain server can be pricey!).
My final tip is to make use of excellent online resources such as Lotro Wiki when attempting these class quests. This page all about where to find class items is particualy useful (e.g. go farm hounds from the Barrows rather than head to Fornost for rotted barghest paws)!
Happy hunting!

Down to just the Sigil of War for my 2nd Guardian class quest. The thing goes for 10g in the AH! Getting a group for Uru is challenging when I mostly play 5-7am CST. I need to hunt up more Aussie/Kiwi friends.
I must confess to abandoning my hunter lvl 45 quest. I completed the first part of 3 but then got into Moria and saw the items were much better than I would have been rewarded with the class quest.
Reading your comment about gaining a Leg Trait has prompted me to complete the quests!!
Thanks
