Turbine: No Plans to Merge Servers, Population Growing

Turbine did NOT say that the population is growing. By prefacing the comment with “If anything…”, they leave the door open for the population to be essentially constant (which is the most obvious way to interpret the statement). If you asked them “Is LOTRO Growing?”, the answer would be “we don’t comment on population numbers”. That policy does not preclude them from making vague statments and allowing every news site and blog to print a headline that says that the game is growing.
(Am I still irritated about the time that they told some Boston Globe reporter how many characters had been created and he proceeded to write as if that number was a subscriber count, with no correction from Turbine due to their convenient no-comment policy? Perhaps.)
Quibble with Turbine’s PR dept aside, I think the advice to join a kinship is a very good idea, even for pure solo players. I have never grouped once with members of my EQ2 guild, but I’m glad to have a channel of people to chat with regardless. I will definitely make a point of going LFK whenever I get around to revisiting LOTRO.

I do like that they at least make note of the fact that the game is only $10 now lol. I suppose without actual numbers any wording they give to their answers can be picked apart some way or another.
Personally I don’t really care much as long as enough people play it for it to stay around.
