I, like many people, have been kind of frustrated by the recent server issues. There are plenty of excuses to give for these things happening and I’d say many are fair and valid. Even so, it still remains an annoyance. I’m sure that’s true for Turbine as well as us players. It’s certainly not in their best interests to have to deal with such problems.
They have kept up on these things as well as I think could be expected. I don’t really know where the buck stops with this and I suppose it doesn’t really matter. I’m just hoping this latest round of fixes (which resulted in the most significant downtime thus far) makes a difference.
All of us who have played this game for a while now know this sort of stuff is rare. It’s never been this bad to my recollection, although I’m not on the most populous server. I do wonder how many players who have been coming back to the game due to the Welcome Back Weekend are now wondering if this is “normal” for the game. Long time players can certainly pop in and say no to that pretty easily, but it still doesn’t reflect well.
Like I said, I hope this is the end of the worst of it.

I’m on Landroval, which I believe is the number 2 or 3 server as far as population goes. As someone who played open beta, head-start week, launch, and Moria launch, I can say that this is the worst period of server stability that I’ve seen.
It is frustrating, but I do take some comfort from the level of feedback we’re getting from Patience. This is when the Community Management staff really makes or breaks a company’s reputation.
I came from WOW in December to LOTRO and I have to say even though I’ve heard that the game hasn’t always been like this it is very frustrating. While starting to get used to the overall more lag, and rubberbanding that sometimes occurs than WOW, these 4 months have not been ideal for a jump to LOTRO imo. While I am on Brandywine due to a friend getting me into the game, I was told that the game has no scheduled downtime. Yet something much worst has been happening. Chaotic downtime. I have also been getting my other friends to jump to LOTRO from WOW and with all this instability it sucks to show someone the game when its in this kind of state while saying “No really its good”. I wish they would do a scheduled weekly downtime till this problem is over, or even take it all down for a few days if they need to. I’d like to see the bugs fixed (I want that Spring Horse) as well.
Welcome new writers!
They actually do scheduled weekly downtime and always have. I imagine most people don’t notice it since it’s in the morning. It’s scheduled for Mondays… They actually kept the servers down longer after it yesterday in an attempt to fix these problems.
We’ll see what happens I guess.
You’re totally right though. It’s a bad time to show someone that LotRO is fun lol.
