I acci­den­tally clicked on my quick launch icon for LotRO (try­ing to play some music) and much to my sur­prise the launcher started down­load­ing new files. From there it started updat­ing my game with the files I installed the other day thanks to the down­load­able updater. It looks like it’ll take quite a while, as there’s nearly 16,000 files to process.

Update — This has now been offi­cially announced by mar­ketroid. Once you’re fully updated, you’ll have to wait for Tur­bine to fin­ish their server main­te­nance. They’re tar­get­ing a morn­ing launch, so go play some­thing else .

Note that even if you down­loaded and installed what came with the down­load­able updater, you still have to run the LotRO launcher in order to down­load the lat­est files and process the patch. Or use your instal­la­tion discs, etc.
