Turbine has added a new article entitled “Rune-keeper Mastery” to the official LotRO site. As with the one detailing the Warden, this article deals with playing as a Rune-keeper from the start up through Level 50. It covers the class’s abilities, attunements, play style and purpose in the game. Be sure to read the full article as summarizing it here won’t do it justice.
I’ve noticed some concern that groups will be arguing over what role their Rune-keeper will take. In most situations the class will likely be forced to make a choice between a heavy healing focus and a heavy attack focus .… Groups forcing people into certain play styles certainly won’t go over with some Rune-keepers.
This type of thing comes up in other MMORPGs and it will be interesting to see how it plays out here. It seems that this potential issue is why games like Warhammer Online have classes that instead use a system where attack skills increase the potential of healing skills and vice versa.
