I know some people come here looking for help understanding Traits. I get the impression that some newer players aren’t sure how to even use them, necessarily. I’ve been putting off writing any basic guide to that for one reason: Mines of Moria is introducing a new Trait Set system that would probably invalidate half of what I would write.

So as we wait, Turbine has posted another developer diary and this time it’s about Trait Sets. This new system will allow players to more easily specialize their characters, particularly if a player is most interested in their class’s secondary roles (healing for Captains, etc.).

The system is sounding pretty interesting and I like that it gives you the ability to tell your friends you’re specced as, say, a Fighter of Shadow Guardian. It’s fast, it’s simple and the system still allows for variations in your character.

Be sure to read the full article as it covers far more than I’ve brought up here.
