I’ve already posted that the Harvest Festival has started. I always found it kind of odd that the Summer and Fall festivals are so close to one another considering nothing else goes on the rest of the year … but that’s another point entirely.

Anyway, I figured it would be nice to write up a little guide concerning where to go and what to do for the Festival. There’s quite a bit going on and it can be a bit overwhelming. If you’d rather find out for yourself, I suggest at least talking to the Town Criers. They’re a more recent addition to the game and they give some very useful information as to where to go for events.

I’ve divided these up by area so you can more easily follow along. I’ve also listed all of the Bartering options at the end. Update: I got Caderly’s OK to post his coordinates for each Troves and Trickery NPC as well.

Bree-land: Harvestmath and the Bree-land Derby

Town Crier: “The Men of Bree-land are celebrating Harvestmath at the Bree-fields party grounds. See if you can find the biggest pumpkin in all of Bree-land!”

The Bree-fields part grounds are directly north of Bree town itself, just soundeast of the “Northern Bree-Fields” text on your map. There are a few things of note going on here.

1.) Dancing: Talk to Ada Musgrove to learn dances of men. She offers two separate dances, so you’ll have to finish the task twice if you want both variations.

Basically this just involves entering /dance 1, /dance2 and /dance3 into the chat window when she tells you to. Be absolutely sure that you have her selected when doing this. It’s not terribly hard otherwise. For me the easiest thing is to just copy and paste /dance and type the number afterwards. You can make a macro too, but they drive me nuts in this game :) .

2.) Pumpkin Picking: Bess Forester is the Games Master that barters for pumpkins on the Bree Festival Grounds. You can pick one pumpkin from the patches surrounding her per hour. When doing so, you’ll receive either a small, medium or large pumpkin. Small pumpkins trade in for 1 Fall Festival token, medium pumpkins for 2 and large pumpkins for 3.

You can also trade a Man Mask Token to her along with 12 Festival Tokens for the Beaver Festival Mask. You can get the Man Mask Token by completing Tricks and Troves in Bree.

3.) The Bree-Derby: As with the Summer Festival, Bree is holding another horse race. It’s limited to five people, although there may be times when you’ll be doing it all by yourself. Just talk to Sally Threshing by the starting line of the track.

Keep in mind that she’ll only have a quest icon over her head a short bit before the race. I’ve found most people just avoid the obstacles by going around them, rather than taking them head on… so you’ll probably want to do the same so you have a fighting chance.

The reward is a Festival Run Token.  Will Peartree (who is on the festival grounds), trades the Harvestmath mounts for 1 Festival Run Token, 1 Receipt of Purchase (which can be gotten by trading in your mount where you originally bought it) and 12 Fall Festival Tokens.

Morgo informed us below that if you trade at the Horsefields instead, the horse can be gotten for 6 Fall Festival Tokens. Thanks!

4.) Tricks and Troves in Bree: This one is a bit confusing as the quest giver is not on the festival grounds. You’ll find Bryrony Elmwood near the Market Gate in Bree. This is just north of the Town Crier, marked on the map by a purple flag.

This one is a bit of a pain since he gives no idea who would like to see them. You’re essentially stuck running around looking for people that have silver and blue ring icons over their heads. They will give you a hint as to what emote they would like to see. Just select them, perform the emote and move on to the next one.

To get started, head south and talk with Tad Ashmead. She’d like to see you dust yourself off.

Big thanks to Squeedge for providing the rest in a comment below: “Tad Leafcutter down the alley by the Auction House wants you to shiver. Mat Heathertoes in Beggars Alley wants you to mock him. Lily Sandheaver near the West Bree Stables wants you to yawn.” Nice.

Thanks to Caderly for these coordinates:

  • Tad Ashmead — 31.3S, 51.1W (Just SE of town hall) — (emote /dustoff)
  • Tad Leafcutter — 31.8S, 51.4W (Hunter’s lodge — Bree rep area) — (emote /shiver)
  • Mat Heathertoes — 31.2S, 52.5W (Beggar’s Alley) — (emote /mock)
  • Lily Sandheaver (Grocer) — 29.4S, 52.3W (E of W Bree stables) — (emote /yawn)

Your reward is the Man Mask Token or 3 Fall Festival Tokens. The quest is on a two hour timer.

The Shire: Harvest Festival and Inn League

Town Crier: “The Hobbits of the Shire are celebrating the Harvest Festival at the old Party Tree near Hobbiton. Join in a game of bobbing for apples!”

Oddly, it looks like the additional All-Shire Run event was removed between when I started writing this and when I made my way to Hobbiton. Oh well. The Party Tree is just north of Hobbiton.

1.) Dancing: Talk to Odo Goodbody to learn dances of hobbits. He offers two separate dances, so you’ll have to finish the task twice if you want both variations. Completing this is the same process as it was for the men dance.

2.) Bobbing for Apples: Sawlo Puddlefoot is the Games Master at the Party Tree. You can bob for apples in the tubs of water around him. When doing so, you’ll receive either a small, medium or large apple. Small apples trade in for 1 Fall Festival token, medium apples for 2 and large apples for 3.

You can also trade a Hobbit Mask Token to him along with 12 Festival Tokens for the Pumpkin Festival Mask. You can get the Hobbit Mask Token by completing Tricks and Troves in the Shire.

3.) Troves and Trickery in the Shire: This quest comes from Egbert Took, who is just within the Party Tree grounds. He asks you to find hobbits in the area that want to see tricks. This works the same as it does in every town.

Despite what the quest dialog says, these hobbits are all in Hobbiton. Keep in mind that you can click the little “Say” icon in your chat window to access a menu of all of your emotes. To get you started, head south to the bridge in Hobbiton and talk with Ted Sandyman. He’d like to see you stretch.

Thanks to Caderly for these coordinates:

  • Lobelia Sackville Baggins — 29.4S, 71.3W (Bag End) — (emote /faint)
  • Porto Brownlock (Novice Farmhand) — 30.5S, 70.7W (Farms N of Hobbiton) — (emote /smoke)
  • Ted Sandyman — 30.8S, 71.2W (N Bywater Bridge by watermill) — (emote /stretch)
  • Daddy Twofoot — 31.3S, 71.1W Outside The Ivy Bush Inn — (emote /pick)

Your reward is the Hobbit Mask Token or 3 Fall Festival Tokens. The quest is on a two hour timer.

4.) Harvesting the Crop: If you’re a farmer, you may have come across Amabell Redfern by the Party Tree during the Summer Festival. She asked you to plant some mushroom spores and wait for them to grow. They’re ready now. Talk to her twice and you’ll be given the Small Mushroom Pot, a piece of small furniture for your home.

5.) The Inn League: Talk to Ailward Chubb to begin your Inn League Initiation. This involves drinking a ridiculous amount of alcohol and then running to the next pub to drink even more. You’ll do this several times in a row under a time limit. You can use fast travel if you wish to, but it’s not really necessary. Upon completion you’ll be accepted into the Inn League and given a huge amount of reputation points with them.

If you’ve already done it before, you can do the quest again to receive more reputation points. During Festivals, you can find Inn League members all over Middle Earth that will request specific drinks from you. If you bring them the drinks they ask for you’ll get reptuation for this as well.

Maxing out your Inn League Reputation allows you to access a special room during the Festival that is open only to friends of the group.

Duillond: Iavasmereth

Town Crier: “The Elves of Duillond are celebrating Iavasmereth. You are welcome to join in their festivities and discover scrolls that retell many of their great tales!”

Everyone you need to get started is in the eastern side of Duillond.

1.) Dancing: Talk to Nedherien to learn dances of elves. She offers two separate dances, so you’ll have to finish the task twice if you want both variations. Completing this is the same process as it was for other dances.

2.) Searching for Scrolls: Mellenfas is the Games Master in Duillond. You can pick around in a chest next to him for scrolls . When doing so, you’ll receive either a unimpressive, well-written or elegant scroll. Unimpressive scrolls trade in for 1 Fall Festival token, well-written scrolls for 2 and elegant scrolls for 3.

You can also trade a Elf Mask Token to him along with 12 Festival Tokens for the Rabbit Festival Mask. You can get the Elf Mask Token by completing Tricks and Troves in Duillond.

3.) Troves and Trickery in Duillond: This quest comes from Gloreniel. This works the same as it does in every town.

To get started, head northwest. You’ll find Lubathred underneath some stairs on a balcony just north of the mailbox. Cower to him and then head off to find the next three you need to see.

Thanks to Caderly for these coordinates:

  • Fanhir (One-handed Weaponsmith) — 24.0S, 92.6W — (emote /roar)
  • Nathronwen — 24.2S, 92.7W (Next to the Two-Handed Weaponsmith) — (emote /handstand)
  • Lubathred — 24.3S, 92.5W (NE of mailbox on a balcony overlooking waterfall) — (emote /cower)
  • Barchiril (Duillond Housing Broker) — 25.0S, 90.6W (Not in Duillond; near the housing instance) — (emote /whippitydo)

Your reward is the Elf Mask Token or 3 Fall Festival Tokens. The quest is on a two hour timer.

Thorin’s Hall: Autumnfest

Town Crier: “The dwarves of Thorin’s Hall are celebrating their Autumnfest in their hall’s inn. Join them at the Thorin’s Hall inn and see if you can discover beautiful geodes and other natural wonders!”

The Inn is inside Thorin’s Hall itself. Go north past the statue and make either a left or a right. You should see a hallway leading downstairs, which eventually turns to the Inn.

1.) Dancing: Talk to Galmi to learn dances of dwarves. He offers two separate dances, so you’ll have to finish the task twice if you want both variations. Completing this is the same process as it was for other dances.

2.) Searching for Geodes: Dyri is the Games Master at the Thorin’s Hall Inn. You can pick around in a chest next to him for geodes. When doing so, you’ll receive either a cracked, pristine or faultless geode. Cracked geodes trade in for 1 Fall Festival token, pristine geodes for 2 and faultless apples for 3.

You can also trade a Dwarf Mask Token to him along with 12 Festival Tokens for the Bucket Festival Mask. You can get the Dwarf Mask Token by completing Tricks and Troves in Thorin’s Hall.

3.) Troves and Trickery in Thorin’s Hall: Again, the Trickster you need to talk to for this is not in the Inn. His name is Guthlag and you’ll find him to the northeast upon entering Thorin’s Hall (directly east of the statue).

Same as before, you’ll have to find four people and perform emotes for them. To get started head south to the Auction Hall and charge at any of the auctioneers.

Thanks to Caderly for these coordinates:

  • Kaupi, Fathi, Farmann — Auction house — (emote /charge)
  • Egil Oldbeard — Maker’s Hall near supplier — (emote /flex)
  • Adwyn Flame-eye (Bowyer) — Near hunter trainer — (emote /pushups)
  • Dwalin — Far N in Thorin’s Hall — (emote /tantrum)

Your reward is the Dwarf Mask Token or 3 Fall Festival Tokens. The quest is on a two hour timer.

Bartering

Each race has its own Fall Festival Trader NPC, but they all offer the same items. They are represented with a blue icon over their heads and on the map. Here’s what you can trade for:

  • Guide to the Cowbell: 1 Fall Festival Token
  • Wooden Beaver Statue: 3 Fall Festival Tokens
  • Giant Pumpkin: 3 Fall Festival Tokens
  • Harvest Statue: 5 Fall Festival Tokens
  • Goblin Statue: 5 Fall Festival Tokens
  • Free Peoples’ Flag: 2 Fall Festival Tokens
  • Scarecrow: 4 Fall Festival Tokens
  • Sundial: 6 Fall Festival Tokens
  • Autumn Welcome Mat: 8 Fall Festival Tokens

Conclusion

And that about covers it. We now have more information on the locations for the Troves and Trickery quests thanks to Caderly and those who have commented here. Thanks a lot everyone!

  1. Dwerosi says:

What do you do with the Mask Tokens?

  2. Tony Tony says:

Dwerosi: You turn them in to Festival traders in each of the main areas. So if you have a Elf Mask Token, you can turn that in to the Festival Trader at Duillond. They shouldn’t be too hard to find, as they’re also the people doing the treasure hunt quests and have a blue icon over their heads.

With a mask token and some Fall Festival Tokens you can trade in for a wearable mask.
