It appears as though the The Lost Ring-lore of Eregion quest has wrapped up on most, if not all, servers. This is great for high level characters that are ready to move along in Book 14, but it also means something else: if you’re still looking for class quest items this is probably your last chance to get them easily.

Class quest items are basically just what the name implies: items required for quests specific to your class. At Level 45 you will be offered quests unique to your class that will give you access to impressive items and new skills. These quests are far from easy, however. In most cases the quests require a significant amount of drops, including ones from signature mobs in the most difficult areas of the game.

For the more casual player, some of these items were pretty much out of reach. Quite a few required your presence in raids against the biggest bosses in the game, which is made even more difficult by the fact that the drop isn’t guaranteed to come to you. You could also amass a metric ton of gold to pay for the items on the Auction House.

So anyway, the Ring-lore of Eregion quest come offered class quest items on a rare basis. Since many people either already had these items, didn’t know what they were or didn’t even need them most have appeared on the Auction House. This drove prices on items down significantly. Some items that could fetch 14 Gold could be found for 1 Gold or less. As the most difficult to gather class quest items are tradable, this makes finishing these quests off that much easier.

I really suggest people take advantage of this before the cheap items sell off and everything is back to square one. It’s likely already happened on some servers. My thought is that Turbine did this to allow for people to get ready for Mines of Moria on more equal footing. Whether or not they’ll do something of this nature again is anyone’s guess, but I’d be surprised.

All I know is that it would suck to need a Flawless Scale of Lhugrien down the road only to find it’s 4 Gold, realizing you could have gotten it earlier for 250 Silver. Lotrolinks.com has a nice list of all the items these class quests require. Check it out.
